Rebuild State Rainy Day Fund Senate #286
Vote Description
This was a vote on amendment #46 to S.4, the Senate budget for FY21, which calls for any net surplus of the fiscal year to be transferred to rebuild the Commonwealth Stabilization Fund. https://malegislature.gov/Bills/191/S4/Amendments/Senate?pageNumber=2&direction=&sortColumn=&keyword=
Mass Fiscal Explanation
MassFiscal supports a yes vote in support of fiscal prudence. Since this budget also draws on the state’s stabilization fund (rainy day fund) to temporarily fill budget shortfalls, it is wise to focus on rebuilding it with any net surplus since the fund is a factor in our state’s credit rating.
